Gatineau Park

Gatineau Park measures 248 square miles in the watershed. The Park is home to numerous endangered plant species as well as a large concentration of rare, threatened or vulnerable species protected in accordance with federal and provincial regulations. Gatineau Park is the only federal park managed by the National Capital Commission under the provisions of the National Capital Act. The Park offers important educational and research opportunities. Aside from protecting natural resources, the Park also offers a wide range of recreational and tourist activities and remains opened to the various users yearlong. However, Gatineau Park does not enjoy legal protection status.

Lac-Leamy Park

Since opening in 1961, Lac-Leamy Park has become important both as a recreational site and as a green conservation area that attracts many tourists every year. The Park is located on one of the region’s most important archaeological sites, where artifacts have been found that are thousands of years old. The Park is also home to several species of birds, land and marine animals as well as plants.
